Carburetor Question

1977 F-150 with the 351 block, I believe my carburetor is the Motorcraft 2150. It is leaking gas from the front bottom portion of the carburetor onto the intake manifold. My feeling is there is a bad gasket, my question is if that means I should just rebuild it or if I can just replace the gasket?

I may try to find a used 2150 and rebuild it, then I can just swap it out, and keep the truck functional but leaking gas.

Mine was doing the same thing. Its was the accelerator pump gasket easy fix. If I was to do it all over I would just rebuild the whole thing. A kit is less then $30. And with Murphy's Law something else will surely go wrong with the carb. Good idea getting a backup to rebuild!

I wouldn't keep driving it if its leaking gas. Its a ticking time bomb. A fire under the hood is just waiting to happen.

Thanks for the suggestions, the accelerator pump is probably the culprit I remember it dripping from under it once. Is it even easy to find just that gasket or am I stuck buying the whole kit?

You could find the gasket itself at NAPA.

But, if it's that dirty, you're better off rebuilding it. One of the easiest carbs to rebuild.

The accelerator pump gastket is cheap and easy. But a rebuild kit will come with the part as well. I would just rebuild if was you.

I did the same thing and now I need to rebuild my carb. Wasted time and money.
