The truck in my sig has recently started acting funny. it will shift good and everything seems ok but when you really get on the juice pedal it acts like it is slipping. you can hear the u-joints pop like they lose drive then get it back. If you understand that. I also loose all boost when this happens (I guess because the tc is slipping). It is a new turbo, and the old one acted the same way. I am kind of leaning towards torque converter going out. I would like to put a suncoast rebuild kit in it, but my bank account wont allow it at this time. I could swing a suncoast tc right now, but I would hate to do all the work to drop trans install tc and refill. If the problem is inside the trans. there are no codes showing on my sct when I scanned it. I havent hooked the ae up to it yet, but what do you think dose this sound like a tc problem? or is it something else?
How does it act while driving? RPMs shoot up without reason and then go back down to normal? What about temp? Does the trans temp go hot a little too fast? Might still be within normal temps, but does it get up there quicker considering ambient temp.
Also, if you do get the Suncoast kit make sure you get the Billet Input shaft as well. It's something you have to get extra and you'll want to make sure you have it. Don't want to go dropping the tranny again when the stocker goes out on you.
It seams to act fine except wot. Haven't noticed the trans temp getting up any faster but will check that next time. The rpm act up a little but not much. Also going from park to drive or reverse sometimes it take 3-4 sec. For it to change into gear. Then at stops it take a little more throttle to get it rolling. Other than that it act ok.
Just based on the symptoms that I had, yours is probably starting to act up. I know mine got really wonky rpm action towards the end of it's life before the rebuild.
so you wouldnt suggest just changing the tc? im a little leary of doing that cause I dont want to drop the trans for the tc then a week later have to do it again.

As far as what I would do, if it turns out to be the tranny issue I would go ahead and do it all. That way the odds are good that something else doesn't come along and crap out(providing the install and everything went without issue). I would be worried about something being burned in their especially if your getting some funky rpm action.
Now a couple of things you have to remember specifically about Suncoast's TCs. Made to order, so they do take awhile to get done unless you just want a general rebuilt TC not one totally custom to your specs and they tend to run about 10*s hotter compared to stock if you get the close to stock rebuild. If you get their racing TCs, I don't know how hot those will run.
