Pro Comps vs stock shocks

new member, just bought a nice, used 1999 F250 SD 4x4 V10 Lariat.

F250 Super Duty 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed Lariat

It has a 4" lift and these shocks on it.

1997-1999 Ford F-250 Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Pro Comp ES3000 - Shock absorber

Wondering if I went back to stock Ford shocks if the ride might be a bit smoother. Yeah, I know it's a work truck with leaf springs, but maybe something adjustable might be better than what it currently has, as well.

Those ES3000 shocks are much better than the OEM shocks. In fact, most people consider any aftermarket shock better than OEM. How many miles are on the shocks? It may be time to get new shocks... I recommend either Bilstien 5100's or Rancho RS9000XL's.

Welcome to FTE and the Super Duty family! You have a nice looking truck!

Yeah thats what everyone says, I wouldnt know personally because I bought my truck with Ranchos on it(2001 F350 CC DRW), I have put 80,000mi on them and they still ride ok, loaded or empty at any speed.

Welcome to FTE. Ford does a lot of things great. Shocks is not one of them. Go with something aftermarket. I think even the dealer will sell you aftermarket shocks.

Very nice looking truck. I don't want to be rude or anything but in the title of your photo book it says crewcab, but you really have extended cab.

Those Ranchos are pricey
Are they worth the money if the truck is not off roading.

I have an FX4 came with the Ford Branded Ranchos I deal with the Ride LOL

I am getting new tires though also wondering if there Dual steering stabalizer was worth the cash if going with the larger tires has anyone had any experience with it or maybe there lower end shocks. Just a daily commuter eventually jet ski hauler maybe....

The Bilstien HD shocks are also highly recommended... approximately $200.00 shipped at ShockWarehouse.com with the 5% FTE discount.

EDIT: The price is $272.56 for the set of four before applying the FTE 5% discount. My bad...

35" tires are at the threshold of needing a dual steering stabilizer. If you decide to install one, I recommend the TopgunCustomz.com kit below because of the heavy duty bracket that is unique for the GEN1 (1999-2004) Super Duties.

Kit w/ Standard Shocks - $129.95
99-04 Ford Super Duty F250/F350 Dual Steering Stabilizer Kit - Top Gun Customz

Kit w/ Bilstien 5100 Shocks - $299.95
