1998 noise?
I have a 5.4 auto. when its in park or N, it make noises and whining sounds. If in drive or reverse, it doesn't make noise until you pick up a little speed. I thought it was a belt tensioner until it was that loud today and only doing it in R or N. Sometimes from a slow coast, it doesn't seem to catch for a second or two. other than that, its acting fine. The fluid is full on the dip stick, so my first thought would be to change the filter.. any advise?

I let my friend take it to tech, and their "ford trained tech person" says he was under the truck and he can feel vibrations coming from the bell housing that match the sounds. The best way to describe the sound is like a worn idler pulley or tensioner. which is what I thought until it started doing it more than when I started it, now its during the driving range when in P or N. so idk. He thinks its the torque converter....
