Hello, I was building a new F150 Lariat 4X4 on Ford vehicles .com and I saw that Ford has an exterior option pickup bed access steps for $325.00 and then they have an accessory box side steps for $300.00. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? The pictures do look different why two different steps?
I have side box steps (one on each side near front of the bed) they came with the truck. I don't I would have ordered them but they are great for getting into my tool box. Then there is the tailgate step which I think is close to $400. Hope this helps. Chris

i don't know the difference, but the one i have seen is a hidden step. it is hydrolic. i wanted to get them on my 09 4x4, but mine is a flareside, and the steps won't fit on flaresides. i can't find any brand that will fit a flareside.

One set goes behind the cab, the other set is mounted behind the rear wheels. The side box steps require a 6.5' bed since the 5.5' bed does not have enough room between the cab and the rear wheel well to mount them.
Does anyone know if the hydrolic side box steps can be owner installed? I like the idea of them but when I bought my truck the dealer didn't have any trucks on the lot with them and I forgot to ask if they can be installed later.
