Tire Size

Well i got mud tires(31 x 10.5) on it right now and with summer coming this is goin to be my daily driver so im looking for a different set of tire for better gas mileage. Keepin the 31's for winter or possible some spring time fun but i want something more practical.

So here my big question friend of mine crashed his suv and tires had like 500 miles on them get a good deal on them but not sure if the size will fit. 235 R70 15 dicover cooper all terrain will mount up to my rims but would the tire work?

Additional info 93 ford F150 ext cab long box 4x4

That tire is roughly a 28"X9.25", so yes they will fit on your truck but will be a bit smaller than your 31's.

The factory size tire for your truck should be on a sticker in the door jam on the driver side, check it out and you will see, it probably lists the right air pressure too.

The factory size is probably 235 75 15. Those tires your friend has will be even shorter than that. They will work, but I don't think you will be happy with how it looks. If you want a more practicle summer tire, then look at a 30 9.50 15 LT tire. I would just leave the 31 10.50s on it.

Agreed with Texas guy... I would ethier go with the 30 9.50 15 or keep the 31s like stated above anything smaller then 30" tire just looks way to small and looks very odd looking not to mention roughly stating the tires your friend has will have like 2 inchs less width wise so if your going in any sticky situations (ex. any place with mud) your more likely to get stuck. It may save you alittle mpg wise and also an offroad tire like an all terrain/mud terrain/ or any offroad tire for that matter will get you worse gas mileage then a summer tire. I say +1 on keeping the 31s. If this gives you an idea my buddy gets about 1-2 mpg with his 33" boggers vs his around 33" off brand summer tires

Yeah, if they do save you any mpg it probably won't be much. What does it get for fuel economy currently?

I run 31 10.50 15 BFG ATs on mine and it gets around 15 or so mpg city/highway mix. I had smaller tires on it for a while and the gas mileage wasn't really any different. Now if you went to something alot bigger it would impact ecnomy much more.

Also, all that will happen if you save the MT tires is that they will get old and hard and start to dry rot before they are worn out. I would just run the tires if you like them.
