Most of yall know awhile back my 73 f100 got hit on the passengerside bed. Well today on the way to school the hood poped open and flew back against the windshield, hood and hinges are ruined. Made a little indention in the cab that could be fixed pretty easy. I have had so much bad luck with this truck and I don't know why. I have spent so much money on this truck. I think im gonna have to let er go if I can get 1800 out of it, probably still losing money on it though. I feel like im fighting a losing battle with this thing, still runs and drives good though.
I have had similar issues. Bought my 77 for $900 last summer. Ran and drove so I didn't figure there was much issue. Had to do all the brakes, replace the entire wiring harness, had a fire on the engine so had to rebuild some of the harness, clutch repair, radiator repair.....on and on. Just rebuilding carb and replacing the gas tank now. The list is getting shorter anyway. Drives exactly like the one I had in high school. I've been pretty carefull with costs, but already have $2300 in it and it still needs body work and paint. All takes time.
Listen to you guys...I touched on this in other threads but... listen to what your saying.
Your $1800 & $900 trucks are giving you problems and headaches because they need work. I know times are tough and money is tight but you are talking about trucks that cost DIRT! Ever buy a new vehicle and pay $30,000. Bit of a difference isint there.
If this were the 2010 Ford F350 site and you told me you were having those problems, I would have some simpathy for you! If you cant afford to buy and repair one of these trucks and have a minimum amount of $4500 invested in these trucks you should be on a bicycle, because there are very few vehicles in this world you can own for that kind of money!
Welcome to the 1973-79 F100 and larger site!
Now go out and just ENJOY your truck that I bet nobody else on your street owns!
thats nothing I got the truck for $1,000 & $649 shipping an already have bout $2,500 in it. AN I still need to redo all the brakes some bodywork, paint, replace clutch, new tires, windshield, find a short bed, an maybe rebuild the T18 4 speed trans. & that just what I know of. It sure beats the $414 car payment I had for the 08 Chevy HHR SS. I will have between 5-6K in it at least an most of it will be brand new can't buy a new truck for that price. An no computer & sensors & emissions to deal with either besides a new one will not last 35 years.
