cleaning gas tank
i bought a 35 gal? gas tank and i just wanted to know how to clean it out,it has a couple gallons of gas in it
the measurments are 12x24x28 if that helps to figure out the capacity as well

Recently had to clean a fox mustang tank prior to lining it. Much rust inside, not a spot outside.
Made up gaskets & plugs to seal the pump, sender, vent & fill holes. Took some rope & made a pair of equal length loops and suspended the tank from a stout tree limb like a swing.
Added about a quart or 2 of straight Castrol Super Clean + about 10 lbs of stainless steel hardware from my junk box. Seal & shake. Rotate & repeat at different angles, then rinse.
Removed major amounts of crud.

imho, Unless you have a very special tank they usually are not worth repairing or recovering.
That being said, I have used the flavor of the month tank cleaner, flushed with water, and used the sealer.
Feel free to use a water hose to blast the gunk from the inside before you get started, do not use compressed air.to dry the tank. I would make sure I had a spare fuel filter when I went on a drive. If this is a EFI vehicle I probably would not bother trying to use a rusted tank.
If it just has bad gas, empty the bad stuff out and slosh kerosene around inside it to clean it.
