Front axel

Which axel comes in a 1986 F-150, im picking the truck up this week. i know it have a 300i-6 4spd toploader and a nine inch rear end. my 82 had a d44, just wanted to know if it'll be the same.

Yeah its the same D44 TTB, i wasn't sure what year they quit using the 9 inch i know the 83 i used to have had the 8.8 rear, never caused any problems but just like the 9 inch better.

It trickled around for a few years after 82-83.It never really had an exact end date.Some trucks had 9's,others had 8.8's.They did that til they ran out of 9's.

9" = 1957/86 / / 8.8" = 1983 to date.

Some 1983 F100's, 1983/86: F150's, Bronco's and E100/150's had 9's, some had 8.8's.

It all depended on the application.
