Sell my truck for a new one or keep it?!
I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what I want to do about my trucks. Yes trucks. I have a 2003 f350 king ranch CC 4x4 with the 6.0 and 150k. I also have a 99 f250 xlt 4x4 ext cab with 250k. Last year I spent about 12k on repairs for the trucks, engine stuff, new clutch, injectors, egr delete, ujoints, tires, ficm, glowplug module....etc. I have done some math and my theory is....if I can get approx 18k for the king ranch, and 8k for the 99 f250, and go into the dealer with 26k, I can get 50,000 worth of 2 trucks for under 500 bucks a month for 72 months. The dealer is offering free tires for life which would save me about 2000 a year and I want to get trucks with low enough miles to use them for a few years then get the 200,000 miles extended warranty so I dont have to pay for all the engine repairs. I'm thinkin an 08 king ranch and maybe an 05-06 base model work truck.
Any ideas or objections would be appreciated. Anyone done the free tires for life just to realize its a scam or anything?
Thanks
Kevin

The king ranch would be 60-70% business and the xl work truck would be 100% business.
The free for life as I understood it was, whatever tires that are on the truck when I purchased said vehicle would then be the same tires I would get for free for life. If I wanted a better tire, then I could pay the difference to have the better tires put on for the first time, then those same tires would be free for life.

I really hate a salesman when it comes to this, go with your first inclination, scam. A dealer can offer free oil changes for life, that gets you back in the door for air filters, shocks and other services to cover his costs. Did you notice this leak? Well we can fix it $$$$$ Cut to the chase and forget the tires....in my own opinion.

Well I'm actually what I would consider extremely fortunate to know 3 of the ford techs at my dealership. I currently bypass all the dealership crap when it comes to my trucks now since they are out of warranty and take it straight to the 6.0 techs house to get work done. Saves a lot of money and I know they quality of work is there. Ive seen him pull a turbo off an 06 6.0 in under 5 mins. I about crapped my pants when he did that. So I am not too concerned with the dealership saying "did you see the oil leak?". I know these guys would lie to me or try to overcharge me for anything.
Paying for the $100 oil changes doesnt bother me too much because then I can get the 21 or 27 point inspection each time for free and the 5th oil change is free too. Im really trying to weigh out keeping the new trucks in tip top shape by paying the dealer a little here or there or trying to keep mine up to par which if I have another year like last year....will cost another 10k which is twice as much as two new trucks per month.
I have to contend with DOT guidelines so yearly inspections have to be done and its in those inspections that they usually find 1000 dollars worth of problems if not more. 2 years ago it cost me 3000 to bring one of the trucks up to what they said was safe.

Is this 200k warranty offered by Ford?? Do you have any idea where I could get some info on this? I'd love to get it for my 2011 if possible?? Thanks
