After replacing the idm my number 5 cyclinder is still dead. had a leak down test done on it and it holds no pressure. air comming out of crank case. Does anyone know if you can do a piston replacement without having to pull the motor? Trying to do it myself with help of a mechanic friend.Any insight is surely appreiciated. Glow plug was bad and when i pulled it , it was broke off.
You need to get the head and pan off. The only 2 ways to remove the pan are cut the crossmember (which I don't recommend but some have done it) or pull the motor. I would just spend the time you would doing the crossmember cutting and fixing on pulling the motor.
Unfortunatly you cannot my friend, unless you cut out the cross member and massacure the oil pan so you can drop the rod and piston that way but other than that the motor is to tight and the cross member Is to much on the way
