i have a 48 f-1 with a 49 239 B8A engine in it . it had a three speed manuel transmission but i want to pit a automatic trans in it . does anyone have some suggestions on what kind of tranny will fit or what i need to do to accomplish this thanks all ideas will be helpful
I'm building a '49 F1 and rebuilding an 8BA to put in it. I am intending to put an automatic trans behind the flathead.
I noticed a company called Wilcap that makes numerous adapters for many different engine/transmission combinations.
Has anybody had any experience with their products?
A C4 is more than enough, but an over drive trans would be even better. Ross gave you links to a couple of great places.
For your info, the 48 F series trucks received the new engine before the 49 model cars. There is no physical difference in a 48 and 49 8BA...... in otherwords, your 48 F1 has a 48 engine. Car guys get it mixed up sometimes - we just have to forgive 'em. lol
