ECM part number
I have a 86 F150 302 EFI. i am having a problem with the ECM advancing the timing to much and causing a really bad spark knock. The previous owner had the ECM changed and I am not sure If that one is the correct one for my truck or if it is a good one being that it has JY paint pen markings. Any and all help is appreciated.

They have a long number on a sticker under the hood and or on the engine. It's an emissions label and if you take that to the dealer, they are supposed to be able to tell you what level or version of the emissions components are needed on the truck, including the computer.
Have you checked the timing with a timing light, and with the spout connector disconnected?
