Ok, so I'm looking at buying a 2010 F150 SCREW with a six inch lift and 35's I believe, but it may be 37's. The dealership installed all the aftermarket parts, but how do I know if they've upgraded the gearing?
If they haven't, how do I know what gearing my truck came with?
Would the stock 3:73 gears be fine?
Would 4:10 gears be necessary? And if so, how much will the cost, including installation?
i would still say that you would want to have the 4.56's to maintain stock like feel when driving....those tries plus the lift will really hinder the performance of the truck. If you are going to change gears you might as well just go all the way because a 3.73 to a 4.10 performance wise, is not going to warrant the amount of money a gear swap will cost.
What size of tire is on there?
What is the axle code on the door sticker. (we can tell what gears are in the truck)
Any of this info will help us give you more information.
You need to take a good look at the dealer add on sticker and see if they included a gear change in the total price. If not, i wouldn't get it until they did.
My local dealer owns a race team and they build several F-150's and F250's in their Ford shop each year and they normally do a gear swap. I'm not real interested in that type of set up anymore so I haven't paid real close attention.
Well the truck is kinda far away, and I'm only gonna make one trip up there and decide if I'm gonna buy it, so I have no specs on the truck. But from the pic, do any of you think you can tell what trim it is? (ex: Lariat, XLT, etc.)
That looks a lot like an XLT I saw in Tacoma... I was looking at it a month and a half ago. As I recall, those tires are only about 33's... in which case 3.73 would be fine. Hell, 3.55 would probably even work ok.
