Our club wagon started returning the fuel to the opposite tank this week. So if your on the rear tank the front tank slowly fills up or vise versa. Also the gas gauge doesnt seem to be accurate. It will run out of gas when the guage reads 1/2 tank flip the switch and it takes right off but the guage will say that tank is empty? Not sure exaxtly whats going on with that. Anyway there doesnt seem to be a fuel tank selector valve but instead a fuel collector where the fuel lines come together. So how does it route the fuel back to the right tank? I pulled the bowl off the collector and there is a small O ring laying in the bottom? Not sure where it goes? No wires go to this collector. I'm guessing the tank switch just powers the right fuel pump? Any advise would be great. RB
I figured it out. It has a mechanical diaphragm that uses fuel pressure to switch tanks and my diaphragm is torn. My bet is you cant buy the part, as I've been calling around with no luck.
i would go to one of our sponsor's website found here: www.partsguyed.com
and enter in the info for your van. see what you find. if what you need isn't there, then contact them and explain what you need. you would be surprised at what is still in the inventories of the Ford dealers across the country. and the ford parts guys can query all that inventory for you. good luick and keep us posted on your results please.
Went down to my local Ford dealer and offered them $95 for their $180 part and they took my money. That goes to show you the mark up on this stuff. They wouldnt sell it for $95 if they couldnt make a buck at it. RB
