fuel gauge
on my 93 f350 460 powered 5speed with dual tanks, when I switch to the front tank gauge stays at teh bottom.
I know the front tank has fuel
1. it runs when switched to it
2. when I go to fill it it is full.
what is the common item that malfunctions???

If the front tank's pump was not turning on I would say the ground connection. But you indicate that works so my guess is the sending unit itself is bad or the fuel tank selector switch has a bad contact.

Sending unit problems where common in these trucks. My front tank shows well over full all the time but my rear tank seems to work fine. My truck is also a F350, EFI 460 and a 5spd trans. though mine is a 89 model.

Unfortunately you will have to do one or the other to get to sending unit. I believe it is easier to drop the tank, when dealing with the front tank. May want to try to siphon off the fuel into containers or directly into the rear tank.
