New guy needs some help!!

I just replaced the IWE solenoid on my 2005 fx4, but the sound is still there. It sounds like a playing card in the spokes of a bike tire... The strange thing is it only happens when it is cold(about 25 or less). When I put it in 4wd it stops immidately stops. If I take it out of 4wd it starts back within mile or so. What else should I check?? It makes no sense to me what it only happens when it is cold.....Any ideas? Thanks!

Alright guys....I just blew out the vaccum lines on the passenger side(side where the noise was coming from) and I got a drop maybe 2 of water out....would that be enough to freeze up and cause an issue in cold weather???

Hey LIV2, I have been going through the exact same thing over the past month, But on my driver side. I have talked to some of the guys about it, And they all told me to replace the solenoid as well. I replaced it with the new style, And still the sound. I went over my check valves and lines; They are all good. I am purchasing a vacuum test pump to go over the actuators on each wheel to determine which one is bad and not holding vacuum. According to what I have read; Its either an actuator, or a CV joint that can make that playing card noise. The actuator's might be bleeding by and grinding the splines instead of fully engaging or disengaging. I never realized it till you said it; But mine are fine when its warmer out, Then make noise below freezing as well. I don't understand that either. Do yourself a favor, One of the first threads in this forum is titled "EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE IWE SYSTEM"... Read it, Bookmark it, Or print it. Its a great write up and will guide you step by step through the troubleshooting process. I should have my vacuum pump soon, And if I find my problem, I'll let you know.
