hey guys........i just purchased a 94 cobra. i wanted to know can i swap the entire motor into my 94 f150 2wd. whats the difference with the 2 motors from car to truck. is there a computer compatible cam that can be used with the cobra motor. i noticed that the throttle body was facing the passenger side. can i unbolt the plenum from the intake and turn it around so it faces the driver side when placed in the truck or can the entire intake be taken off and turned around. the a/c unit in the truck looks like it would be in the way if i was not turned around and the air box is on the drivers side. my main concern was the computer, throttle cable, fuel system, and throttle body. the truck has a duel throttle body and the cobra has a single one. the car was in a wreck. it was just the drivers door that was damaged. insurance didn't want to fix it. so i gave my friend 1000 smack a roo's to take the car of his hands. the car was or still is in great running condition. can i run the 5 speed trans from the car in the truck and would the drive shaft from the truck work on this or would a custom one be needed. any thoughts on this issue is needed before i get my hands dirty............thanks...............
Does the mustang upper intake have a 45 deg elbow just behind the throttlebody or does it point straight across at the passenger fender? If it's straight then yes the upper can be flipped around 180 deg but not if it has the elbow since that would point the TB back at the firewall.
Actually after thinking about it for a moment I don't think the GT40 upper was ever made with an integrated elbow.. and that's what this motor should have on it so the upper will be reversable.
No internal changes are necessary to use this motor in your truck, the wiring harness will connect just fine but you'll have to install the truck fuel rail as the fuel line connection points are different in the cars. The throttle cable won't be a big deal either, you could source a Lightning cable or have the cable retainer bracket modified to accept the truck cable, there have been a few posts here and elsewhere on this topic.
The 5-speed could be installed in the truck but you will likely be doing some custom work for the shifter and maybe the driveshaft, not sure about that.
hey guys..........thanks for the feed back........ to conanski it does not have an elbow on it and it goes straight out and to texas guy 001 only the drivers door is damaged and i don't have the pink slip to the car so i will be stripping the car of its valuable parts and tossing out the rest of it. the insurance company didn't want to fix the door so this is where the cars life has ended up.
