quick 429/460 ?
is there a spacer that goes between the harmonic dampener and the timing chain cover? i saw that you install one in one book then in another it didnt mention it at all
i also posted on the 460 section just trying to get the quickest answer

yes.
depending on year of the engine it is either just a plain round spacer or a spacer with a hatchet on it.
pre 79 engines are internally balanced and use a solid round spacer. 79 and newer engines are externally balanced and use a spacer with what looks like a hatchet head on it.
check the block casting numbers to determine the balancer required. D9TE blocks were the externally balanced motors and D1VE, DOVE and the C9 and C8 blocks were internally balanced
