What is the largest load you guys have pulled or hauled? Half ton? 3/4 ton? Engine? tranny? Im sure I'll hear some good answers. As wore out as the motor in my truck is, it has never backed down from a tow strap.
I have an 85 F150 with a 351W. Biggest load of scrap I ever brought in had my truck trailer and load weighing almost 18Klbs. Its all about how you load it.

about a ton of construction grade aluminum, gotta love that I6
We used to have an 86 dodge 250 power ram and we had 4000 lbs bags of potting soil stacked up 8 feet high on 2 pallets. It still had enough to carry more. It ran fine and drove fine. You just gotta strap it down good and load it right.
My trucks 8400 or so empty, I've hauled 4 tons of gravel before. I recently had 4k lbs of salt in the back, plow on ft and pulling a 18 ft trailer with a John deere compact tractor. POOR little 351!!!!

yes, very true. Those are the largest loads that have been hauled by me is to the scrap yard. About.. 3 miles down the road. Can be good $. either a bed full, tow strap or a 15 foot trailer. 351 windsors are a nice and strong running engine, but I love the 300 six, 302, and 351 engines. Never can decide which is the best really. But, I love the 4 speed manual low geared. Makes a difference. Really good ol' trucks

they have put the 351 w in half tons, three quater, and my friends dad just bought a one ton crew cab with a 351 w. They are a strong motor. Use to drive one when I worked on the farm that miss fired. It still was quite strong on seven!

wow, scrap prices are decent. That is a decent amount of money from aluminum! The prices were higher though. Welcome to Fair Salvage Company! - click on prices.

definitely, 300 horses stock with 318 lbs/ft of torque it easily out does nissans V6 and is equal in horses to subarus prized EJ257 both of which are made for racing.
I have piled 3 foot iron cab high numerous times with my 86 250, right around 4000 pounds in the bed. Heaviest haul with the trailer was 24,500 scale weight....

makes me feel like a wuss for leaving the quarry with 2 1/2 ton (11,500 gross). that hoist electric or pto? I'm going to try and fabricate an old hoist with integral pump and have a couple gear housings to try and mount on the side of my 4spd. Going to try and do all this under my stock dually bed and any height I get from it I will make up with body lift on the cab. Modifying some 20 in rims to run commercial tires on this too.
i have been thinking for some time, about keeping a camera handy, and snapping shots of these old trucks still on the job.
sounds good greyghost I like your guys stories Had to pull the other Massey Ferguson out with my truck again. Who said you need 4wd?? I got only 2wd. Packed snow can be a pain to plow with the ole' tractor. Wishing I bought that plow truck
