Problem solved, lights are fixed. Had my dad ship me some relays he bought at a Ford dealership. Pretty cool that all of the truck's relays are of only two possible part numbers, large or small. I replaced the #1 relay in the panel beneath the steering wheel with the small relay and lights instantly worked again. Glad it was such an easy fix. Just wish these relays were easier to come by at parts stores. Of course, nothing's easy to find in the Alaskan bush.

I didn't notice until it was dark out days later but unfortunately my problem was not completely resolved. None of my running board lights are working. They used to come on with the interior lights when a door opened. I've tried with different doors and the interior lights still work but I'm not getting any running board lights at all. Any ideas?

They are on the same circuit as the interior lights. All four lights share a common ground. I would start with that. A simple test light will answer that question.

Im having the exact same problem cant figure out which relays to try and change out. This is what happened to me,

Today i smelt something burning and a little bit of smoke started coming out near my wheel well then stopped. Checked all the wires i could physically see inside the engine bay and under the dash and cant find any that are melted or burnt. Now none of my interior lights will work and when i open my door the running boards lights dont work either. I cannot turn on the interior light with the switch either. The lights still work that have the switch next to them on the roof but thats it.

I don't recall any smelling or smoking wires with my light problem. I recommend you try replacing the relay under the dash previously described as that fixed my interior light problem. I was also able to power each light by their individual switches like you can now. Still have no running board lights but I haven't looked into it at all in many months. Use the links previously posted to find the courtesy lamp relay and replace that one.

Once you get your interior lights working again I also highly recommend getting the new Sylvania lights for the dome lights. They are so much brighter and a clearer white well worth the quick swap.
