suspension mods

I have a 92 Ford Explorer and am looking for some info. Looking to do a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. My question is there talking about adding a leaf or blocking the axle when doing the lift for the rear. How is this possible if the axle is over the leaf? adding a leaf or block between the leaf and axle would actually lower the vehicle. need info on this. I have a 91 Explorer with a 3" body lift with 32" tires. Looking to go all out with the 92. Not a whole lot of sites on lifting an Explorer. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The shop that does the lifts by me said that a 6" lift is not possible because of the rear spring set-up. They could get a 6" lift for a Ranger, but they would have to an axle flip to make it work. How is this possible due to the level hole and vent on the differential? Superlift offers a 5.5" lift using blocks. How does this work? Any info? Thanks

As far as my limited knowlege of the pre '95 Explorers go, what they are talking about is a SOA (spring over axle conversion). The leafs are swapped to the top of the axle and the blocks are installed under them. Skyjacker uses 6" arched leafs instead of the blocks like Superlift.
