AIRDOG 2 Setup ?
Installed the AD2 yesterday. Was not happy with the install instructions and sent AD2 an email with several change suggestions. Love that I will never have to change that PITA HFCM fuel filter again. Mounted it between the driver/rear passenger floor board outside the frame where I can get to everything very easily.
Anyway, the AD2 130/75 has it's own internal pressure regulator that will adjust the fuel outlet pressure from 45 psi to 75 psi. So I'm thinking why do I need the OEM and AD2 pressure regulators fighting each other. I'll just remove the spring and brass regulator valve and all will be good. Well, after I thought about that more I thought, nope, will not work. With the spring and valve removed, the AD2 will just pump fuel to the filter and immediately go to the return line and back to the tank with the OEM regulator out of the picture. Right?
So what I'm going to do is remove the regulator housing, the spring, the brass valve and the fitting the retun line attaches to and somehow block the return line at the fitting, probably with epoxy or teflon seal/material. That way I can set the fuel pressure with the AD2 to, say, 60 psi (BB mod pressure) with the only fuel return being the AD2 internal return to the tank. I'll have solid deaireated fuel going from the AD2 through the secondary filter and dead heading at the motor.
Is this a good plan or not?
