I, ok - my son, has a 1999 Ford F-100 that has leather seats in the front that just suffer from the typical wear and tear of a 11 year old pick up truck.
My question is, what is the most common sense way to go about looking into replacement front seats for his truck? When I was young, the answer was a phone book and the local junk yards. I'm sure that might still apply, but I want to make sure I'm considering all possible solutions.
Lastly, for the 1999 Ford-F100 Lariat, is there a span of years in which the front seats would be interchangeable? Like this forum is 1997-2003, would seats from any of those years fit? Would I have to make sure and get Lariat seats or would that just be to make sure that "Lariat" is printed across the leather seat.

Thanks for the help in advance.
Checking your local salvage yards might be your best bet if you want to save a few dollars. Seats from any 97-03 F-150 and Expedition should be direct bolt-in for your truck. I just put 2000 Eddie Bauer edition leather seats and center console in my 98 F-150 Extended cab. The only thing you may have to do is run a power supply from the fuse box for the powered seats. My 98 didn't have power seats but did have the fuse for the powered seats in the fuse box under the hood. You will need to cut a small section of the carpet for the center console. I hope this helps.
