38 Bed Mounting Problem
I'm trying to mount my bed to the frame. The rear mount seems to fit fine but the forward one is confusing. There is a gap where the bolt goes through the frame that doesn't seem correct. There's also an extra piece of wood that I would think would drop into the framework but it rests on top instead. Finally, there are large mounts bolted to the side of the frame that don't seem correct at all as the bed will hit them.
I bought this truck in pieces and it came with two frames. Both have the same configuration. I'm starting to think the fames may be from a car. If this is the case, can I just lob off the side mounts and saw the extra portion off the wood mounts?
Here's a couple pics:

No, not a good one. I think I've got the issue figured out though. I'm just going to put the bed on and see where it lands. then I'll adjust it using the fender/running board fit.
Thanks!

On the other hand, that could be a car chassis, and that could be a body mount. You could check the VINs on this site, I couldn't decifer it but someone else may be able to. Wait, you have a '38, there's a picture of one in a book I have and that mount is nowhere to be seen, in that area is the e-cable mount. Hmm maybe that's it, you havea car chassis after all. Can anyone confirm this?

The VIN thing brings up a good question. Which number to use when I title the truck? The engine number is 5052026 and the frame number is 3330640. I doubt anything but maybe the year can be deciphered from them though. I thought they were just engine numbers that meant nothing but the sequential order the engines were made.

If you post your VIN for the chassis on the MSN Ford Flathead Forum they can give you a quicker responce and are much more knowlegable than me. you do need an MSN Passport to post, and ask to get in it also. But they are a ton of help. I beleive this is the address...

I wonder if it works. Anyways, good luck with your prodject, wish I could be more helpful on this.
