p.s. what rear end can i use to get away from the 2 speed rear axle can just the chunk be replaced with something else its a eaton
Hi; not 100% sure, but I think you're right on the edge of motor style change. From FT to 385 series. If you're sure you have a 330 FT ,then I believe your choices are somewhat narrow. While you can put anything you want in, the cost and amount of work involved may not be where you want to go. The FTs used a front motor mt./ timing cover ( two sizes- small snout and large snout ). I believe the 385 series has mounts on the sides of the block like you're used to seeing. Some FE series engines can be used in place of FTs. The bell housings are different between the FT/FE and the 385s. Research this forum, it's still small and you can read it in a short time. It will answer a lot of questions. As far as the 2 speed goes, eaton makes single speeds also, Talk to a heavy truck/ gear shop. Make sure you take axle #s with you. All the info you seek can be had with a little research and a few questions. Good luck OBCB
P.S. Please any more knowledgable people correct me where I'm wrong.
