Best chip?
Hello all. I have a friend of mine who I'm trying to get some answers for. He has a 97 powerstroke and is interested in getting a tuner for it. What would be the best tuner for it and also what is a safe hp level for that motor? The truck is bone stock other than exhaust. Thanks!

I would get a PHP, TW or DP tuner but also he needs to get an intake and gauges and i would do those things before he gets a chip. Call Dale at Tymar performance or riffraff diesel for the intake. Then he NEEDS gauges to keep an eye on everything.

What is the general opinion of Bully Dog Watchdog for gauges?
With the Pyro, Boost and tranny temp, I would be looking at almost that much money and have a full pillar mount.
Thought about the Triple Dog, but think I would prefer a DP Tuner F6 for a chip.
Also like the Edge Evolution CTS, but that is a lot of money for only gauges if I never used the tuner part.
Being able to monitor more than 3 things with one gauge does sound nice to me.

If you want to get a gauge that monitors more than one thing, look at Aeroforce scan gauges or terminator scan gauges. Im not sure about bully dog gauges. Most of us run Isspro's or autometer or Dipricol. Do not get an edge product for your truck. they tend to be pretty crappy. Get either a PHP, TW or DP Tuner.
