Truck and engine is all original with 4spd manual, 4X4, "Armstrong power steering". For a 1964 292 V8 I don't see in the pertronix catalog for that year. The engine has been rebuilt and bored to .312. The distributor has number B9A-131-B on the side nearest the rear of the oil bath air cleaner. Which Pertronix kit will work for this truck? It does have Vacuum advance, I don't think it has mechanical advance. I believe it has Rochester 2bbl carb. Help, I am stuck !!
just received a pertronix for my 239 v8 wasnt listed in the catalog we recieved but was told this one would work ill look on wed to see the part numbers for yours julie
I buy mine through JC Whitney's online catalogue. They have the best price I've found. Unless someone has changed your dist, after 56 they all have centrifugal and vacuum advance. You'll only find 2 choices, pre 57 and after 57, take the after 57. In my opinion you should also get the Pertronix coil unless you can verify that the OHMs of resistance of the coil that you plan on useing meets their unit's requirement. A word of caution, the first one I used in a 57 distributor raised the rotor to the point that it touched the terminals in the distributor cap. I corrected my problem by fileing about an 1/8" off the bottom of the rotor. It may have just been the brand of rotor I had and you may not have this problem. I did call Pertronix and made them aware of the situation. I've since installed their units in other Ford and GM points type distributors and they all have worked well. Go for it, and good luck. Carl
