One wire oxygen sensor

Have been trying for years to get one, before I found FTE! What's the deal? There has to be an upgrade. Any info appreciated.

I replace the one in my 1981 every 30,000 miles.

They are still avaliable through Ford, and other autopart stores.

The Original Motorcraft O2 sensor in my 1981 was "manufactured by Bosch for Motorcraft", so buying a Bosch one at the autopart store would be a OEM replacement.

If this is for your 1983 - 300-I6, make sure you still have the MCU and Feedback Carb, otherwise it wont really matter if it's plugged in or not.

Pics of My 1981, your 1983 will have simular controls if it has a o2 sensor.

Pic of MCU:

Pic of Thermactor Solenoids, (TAB and TAD) and Vacuum switches that tell the computer engine conditions: "Closed Throttle, Wide Open Throttle, Crowd #3, and Temperature."

In the following Picture, the wires going from the choke to the computer test plug, and the O2 sensor wire are shared in the same loom. It plugs in just below the cut off in this picture.

On my 85 I have EECIV, would i have a similar control box? I have the same problem, I don't know what it plugs into. I'm going outside soon and I'll take a closer look.

Just came in from looking at my truck and the oxygen sensor has a connector at the back of the manifold. I can't see it so I didn't want to tamper with it. It feels like the other side of the connector goes into the harness.

Here's a few pics of what mine looks like. I'm assuming everything has been removed that has to do with that system.

and yes i know the egr vac line is unhooked. it's sticking and i don't think the line is run right so i d/c'd it till i can figure it out.

Yes, except yours will be located under the dash in the cab, and be shaped slightly different.

It has definately been messed around with. I would need to see a picture of the vacuum diagram on the radiator support what it came with originally.

However your truck has a non feedback carb on it and those are used without computer controlled systems.

So all your o2 sensor is doing is plugging up the hole in the manifold. There is no computer to hook it up to. Either the engine or exaust manifold has been replaced, or someone took all the computer controls off the engine.

The vacuum diagram could help determin which, but it wouldn't be a 100% definate answer no matter what.

Hope this helps...

I'll take a pic of it then. It's weird because it does have the YFA carb but not solenoids. And the vac line diagram shows that it is right? I'll shoot it in a few minutes i have to go out there and deal with some other problems anyway
