Question Next engine mod advice

I have a 97 f-250 ext cab short bed 4x4. 4" lift and 35's. The only mods i have done so far are a superchips tuner, exhaust, and afe intake. I was wondering what yall think I i should do next as a power adder. I was thinking a new turbo with a higher compressor wheel and intercooler. What did you guy do?

injectors and an intercooler, also a better chip than the superchips. They give some more power but are pretty generic. Get a php, dp or tw chip with stage one injectors and your stock turbo will work and will have mucho more power. IC won't add much power but keeps temps cooler.

Get a hold of jim at rosewood diesel, he has a good deal on php chips and diy stage one or bigger injectors

yes, get a better chip... I love my PHP, others love the DP TUner or TW. You need gauges to monitor the engine, EGT, Boost, and Trans Temp (if auto).

After that injectors (Rosewood Diesel), better HPOP (Adrenaline is good from Bean's), intercooler... after all that THEN i'd look into turbos.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll check into the chips that yall have suggested. I know the IC dosent add anything, it might even work against you as far as turbo lag but I like to keep the EGT's as low as possible. I have been considering injectors but I dont know if I want to save a little longer and get stage 2 or just go with stage 1.

I have a boost and Pyrometer gauge. Manual trans so dont have trans temp. What is the big deal with the HPOP? I know what it is just not how it adds any power. Or is it required to drive the bigger injectors?

you can add a turbo but in order to light a turbo and utilize boost and potential you need more fuel aka bigger injectors/ better chip. youll notice a HUGE difference if you switch to a custom chip. a super chip is good for like 50 noticable horse, were as a custom chip such as dp , tony, php ect is good for much more!

ace, our trucks are powerd by high pressure oil, the better the pump the better your truck can run with tunning, an adrenaline is a nice upgrade from stock and will support some pretty good injectors. it might not add much more horse power and tq to stock sticks and motor but youwill get full potential out bigger injectors say you upgrade inthe future.

Do you know the websites for any of the chip you suggested? Thanks

Nope I have a 5 speed manual. But I am looking to get a new clutch I was looking at the valair clutchs that everyone on here has recomended. I have a friend that put a south bend clutch in his chummins and he really likes it. What do you guys say? Valair or LUK clutch such as Southbend

Rosewood diesel (JIM) carries the php chip at a very good price. I think its diyinjectors.com. I got it and love it. The other two are a little more pricey, don't know if they are much better and don't know the sites for them.

As far as the hpop my truck sets a cel now if I am at WOT for very long. With my mods listed it must be lacking enough oil so I am going to go with a 17* from a SD truck.

I'm an automatic guy but guys really like the valair from what I read.

I went with DIY rosewood diesel stage 1's when my split shots gave up the ghost. Great instructions great guy. I think they've been improved with armature shims since I did mine.So they're easier to finish up your poppet clearances when everything is going back together. I went with the southbend SMF clutch with the kevlar pilot bushing. I like the way it's come together so far...BTW I don't know about power but I like the idea of electric fuel..but that's just cuz I've been chasing a frustrating fuel leak in the valley...but don't wanna hijack the thread just thinkin out loud I guess-good luck Arcwelder!

Im in the same boat. Chasing the leak. Thats item number one. But now im working on it I might as well keep going. I have been ordering my parts slowly but surely. I have the new glow plugs, a new valve cover gasket (because i had a glow plug/injector harness burn up) new harness connectors. So I an going to try to keep going. Ive owned the truck for 9+ years and havent really done a whole lot to it beside maintance. I have new Moog ball joints on the way so I can get back up on the alignment rack. I just sent rosewood an email with a few addtional questions about there injectors and chip to work with it. So thats next. I need the clutch soon because the fuel leak finished that off pretty good for me. But i want to figure the other mods so I get one in the right power range.
