Intercooler

Has anybody ever installed an intercooler such as the hypermax, or anything else on an idi with factory air, and done a write up on it.

I'm running a '01 7.3 intercooler on mine and like the results. Also it's somewhat smaller than the 6.0

I don't think I can add pictures but I can email them to you. The intake hat I'm using is made by a guy on oil burners. He goes by typ4/Russ. Theres a thread right now about intake hats and intercoolers with pictures of what Russ builds.

No those are not my pics. I saved them so I can see how to do mine. I actually just bought a 25x12x3" intercooler that I am going to install here sometime. I have the stock ats turbo on mine. My intercooler will block about 1/2 of my condenser. I don't think it will be much of a problem as long as I get enough air flow through it. The intercooler is not as big as a psd intercooler but I think it will work fine for the amount of boost I am running (15 pounds). Since according to my book i have about turbo charging, they say every 7psi of boost the air increases about 150 degrees above ambient temperature. So if the intercooler I put on cools it at least 100 degrees, I think that will be a dramatic improvement in power. Going back to the condenser, I think the trucks in the pictures has the intercooler in front of the condenser. I don't know who he is or able to ask him how it worked, so I'm just throwing in my opinion. I think if you got an intercooler that doesn't completely cover up the condenser, I think the a/c should still put out some cold air. I guess I will have to see for myself if I am right. I could vary well be wrong but I guess somebody has to test the theory out sometime.

Yea I finally found the picture of his condensor. On all big trucks the ac condensor is in front of the air to air, and I belive that would be better but may not be possible. What application is the cooler you bought for and keep us posted on the install.
