engine swap questions

I'm replacing the 302 in my '89 PU with a 302 from an '89 mustang
GT. The mustang has been wrecked and been sitting for several years but was running fine. Can anybody tell me if there's any- thing special I need to do besides unbolt and rebolt? I know I'll have to change part of the intake and the oilpan but I'm wondering if there are any upgrades or modifications I should make while I have everything torn down.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Billy

engine swap questions

Hi-
Unless you have the harness and computer from the mustang you'll have to change both the upper and lower intake. The oil pan can stay though, and if it's like my mustang engine swap the mile of clearance you gain with it is real nice.

You'll also need to use the Mustang's distributor, because it has a hydraulic roller cam, which is made of billet steel, as opposed to your cast iron cam. The Distributor in the Mustang will have a steel gear, so that it won't wear out against a billet steel cam. If you use your truck distributor, it will work for a while, but it will grind the gear away to nothing, leaving metal shavings in your oil pan. I'd recommend using everything from the Mustang if it's possible. TK

I did this same swap several years ago. Remember the mustang has a different firing order than the truck 302, if I remember right it is the same as the truck 351 firing order and also ,because of the larger cam in the mustang engine (it was stock) I had to convert to mass air so the truck would run right
