I'm gonna brag on my 300

LOL. A few years back, I used my 80 F150 to drag a cobra replica to a shelby/ford performance meet at a local road course. Baterry in the cobra wouldn't crank over the 351C, so I popped the hood on the truck and snagged the battery. Since my hands were rather full, I left the hood up. I was amazed at the number of people who went well out of their way to have a look under the hood at my 300, and made comments abouts trying to do that task with a 6cyl chevy..........

I love seeing any I6. I just think it's so neat.
The 300 isn't real big, it's not real powerful.. but they're dead realiable and stubborn. That's why I refer to my truck as "The Mule", because of the 300. They're going to work for you, or die trying.

I just thought it was amusing to see the number of guys going out of their way to look at the 300, when there were so many other vehicles with far more exotic powerplants (IE several BOSS 429 powered 'stangs) and plenty of Shelby's nearby. In fact, less than 10 ft away was a very clean, low mileage 69 shelby, in the rare orange w/black stripe combo. 30 ft away, on the other side, was a genuine 427SC Cobra.
If the sight of the 300 wasn't enough for them, I'd disclose the 2.75 final drive. For some reason, that info resulted in more than a few dropped beers............

yeah, I don't like auto O/D trans. I loved the 94 I had with 300/5spd and 3.55 gears. Too bad the ex totaled it......
I'd like to go with 3.50 or 3.73 gears and a 5spd, but that's a bit too involved for a truck that doesn't see more than about 5K miles per year.
