Hello, I'm new to the forum and was wanting to know what I could do to get better throttle response from my 08 screw. It has a 4.6L in it. Thanks for any help.
get a tuner such as the edge....it will help with the throttle response and do a multitude of different things such as provide gauge readouts, firm up the shifts, along with a lot of other things.
it depends....if the dealership that is doing work on your truck, determines that the tuner was the cause of the issue they have the right to not complete the work under warranty. (At least that is how I understand it). What most people do is tune the truck, and then detune it before it makes the trip into the dealer. Hope that this makes sense.
On Edit: Warranty Denial has to do with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975....you should do a search on it and it will explain your rights.

Reason: Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975
You could check to see if there are any reflash updates from Ford pertaining to throttle response. If there is, you may be able to get that reflash for free under warranty for that complaint. I have an SCT X3 programmer with custom tunes and the throttle resonse and transmission shifting is superb with all three of the tunes that i have. The torque converter lock up strategies are much better also. I haven't noticed much fuel economy improvement, but driveability is much improved. It also tows my enclosed car hauler much better with the 87 octane tow tune.
Don't just run out and buy a tuner. Take your time and do some research. There is a great deal of experience with tuners here on FTE.
I bought a Superchips 1715 for my van back in '03. Today I would most likely make a different choice.

Great advice.
PHP offers custom tuning for the major 5.4 and 4.6 tuners.
I just this past week went to Troyers and got a Superchips Flashpaq 1865, we set it on first stage (87 octane perf with trailer tow to 4,000 lbs.) to start off, immediate improvement in response, and the transmission doesn't hunt around or do the long slide from gear to gear ... it just shifts quickly. Came over Nortyh Mountain and it stayed in OD for the first time ever. 1/2 throttle and it steps out really nice.
Mine does have a CAI and cat back with SI/DO Flowmaster (and long Thrush glasspack in front to tone down the droning) and the new tuner programming will handle both.
I love it, really woke it up and it shifts so much better.
Has two more tunes, a heavy tow one that reguires high test gas, for up to max tow weight ...
... and a performance tune with a option of 87 or 93 octane but no towing.
