Radiator vs. Core Support

So while I am replacing my 300 I-6 engine in my '74 F-100, I thought that I would toss a new 3-core radiator in the thing as well.

This new radiator is substantially bigger than the old one I had in the truck (apparently the old one came out of a car). So much larger that, although it fits in my core support OK, about 10" of the radiator on the driver's side is covered by the core support. It seems the hole cut out for the radiator is not congurent with the size of radiator I am now using. Hmmm.

Will this cause a problem? Should I hog out the opening in the core support to expose the radiator more, or will it be OK just left in the stock configuration?

Radiator vs. Core Support

If the radiator is blocked, you're not getting any benefit from the extra width. The core support isn't structural in that area, so cut it.
