Tag Info (complete)

So this is the complete warranty tag... I appreciate the decoding that was done on my previous post, but am hoping to gain a bit more clarity with the complete set.

And a question... This is a late '65 truck, but seems to have many, if not all, of the characteristics of a '66. When doing repairs/work/etc should I approach this truck as though it was a '66? Or is a '65 with a few '66 "upgrades?"

Thank you all!

BODY (not interior trim) code L81:

L = Medium Green Crush Vinyl & Medium Green Cody Pattern Woven Plastic.

81 = 81A STANDARD Cab / 81B is a Custom Cab.

DSO 72: San Jose (NORCAL) Ford DIstrict Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

yes the L81 is body code, but doesn't the L refer to the interior (or at least the seat rather with the possibility of the rubber floor mats)?

wait what?

I was just trying to figure out why ND was saying that CS65 was wrong? Where it very much was right, although the way it was typed might make it seem like he was wrong? idk

In the MPCIt says the L code trim is used on 81A body styles...which is the base model...B being the CC...

MPC text, Soft Trim, 1966-70 section, pg A3, approx 1/2 way down on LH column...

" L F100/350 (81A) " after this info it gives name of pattern/material as I stated prior.

Its the Only L code for 1966 trucks.

As to the trim code/body code differentiation...MPC Text, Soft Trim, 1966/70 section, pg A1...

" Trim Code E "
Body Type 81

This is in a box with an arrow pointing to Ford example of the 64-69 warranty number plate

However Bill is partially correct as on the warranty plate itself it only says BODY

Only one with the MPC would know the characters preceeding 81 or whatever body type is shown is the trim code for the truck.
Its minor stuff to most...but if you want correct interior pattern for the seat its the only way to know what was original...assuming it has the original LH door or had the tag switched to the replacment door.

BTW, Bill didnt say I was wrong...just adjusting things is all...as to San Jose and NORCAL...I dont know if it says that or not in the MPC, my guess is that just became its name peeps in the know referred to it as.

I did not say Don (cs65) was wrong, I just clarified what he typed.

The L of the BODY code is the color/type of the seat material.

81A is the BODY code, which decodes to a Standard Cab.

If it had been 81B = Custom Cab.

72 is the DSO code for the San Jose Ford (not L/M) district sales office, which encompasses all of northern CA, parts of Nevada and Idaho.
