i have an 01 4x4 4 door long bed F350.
My girlfriend has an 00 cab and a half, short bed F250 both are 7.3
her's is completely stock...(so i think) and i have a straight pipe 4" on mine. her's seems to idle and tick a little bit louder than mine does, however this may be due to the higher humming of my exhaust thus blocking the sound of my actual block ticking. her truck can RUN fast...and mine get's up and goes but not nearly enough i've always used the excuse that it's the weight of my truck that makes it slower. i also noticed that when i gun my ( in neutral without moving ) in attempt to blow smoke even with my straight pipe there's no smoke. now her's will blow smoke and she still has a cat and a muffler on. so does that mean massive more power ? i'm starting to lean toward the thought that she might have aftermarket injectors. i don't think their stage one's but maybe something bigger than stock. what yall think ?
Probably just a difference in the PCM codes, unless there is reason to believe there has been some aftermarket work done to her truck. My father-in-law has a 2001 that runs a lot better than my 2003 and I think it just the tuning Ford did to the different PCMs. I'm sure that your added weight isn't helping either, but I doubt thats as much of a difference.

If it had bigger injectors whoever sold it would have bragged about it.
I'm guessing it may have a chip, or had a Superchips style tune downloaded.
My dad bought one that we knew wasn't running stock tunes, everything else completely stock. Called the guy he bought it from and he had a Superchips programmer for it, ended up sending it since he had no use for it.
Did your girlfriend just get the truck, or has she had it for a while?

You two may have to work on your communication skills, I'm guessing there's something she's not telling you...
she had it for a while. since she was 16, she's 19 now. i don't think there's a chip in it unless it was just an program that was downloaded but i still doubt it. it was bought at an auction.
she has stock exhaust with a cat, and has been pulling a 3 horse, living quater trailer for the most part pretty far distances, and HAULING while doing so. if there was a chip i'm pretty sure she'd of blown something with EGT's climbing that high.
Depends on the chip, depends on the setting.. But I dont want to you to think you shouldnt have gages and what not. Some of the tunners are able to run with out gages ( not advised ) but that is what they markett. My old programmer said it was safe to tow anything with out gages at it highest setting. I did so for easily 70,000 before I went out and got my DP.
Have you physically looked at the PCM? It's located down by the e-brake pedal under the drivers side of the dash. When i bought my truck, the dealer was convinced it didn't have any power adders. But come to find out, when i stuck my head under the dash, there was a Banks plug-in type chip peering back at me from the PCM Luckily it wasn't a hot tune. But still worth takin a look... Good luck.
