help with superchips programmer

i am looking to get a superchips programmer. just have one queston my 6.0 like alot of them out there have a problem with rough starts, idling, and surging on startups when it is cold. i know that you can take it to the dealer and have them update the flash on it to fix this. my question is does the super chips programmer come with or can you download onto it the same falsh that the dealer would put onto the truck to correct this. or am i still going to have to take it to the dealer and pay them to do it.

Unfortunately the ford calibration update via IDS version 65.05 (latest one) has to be performed at the dealer. This latest flash should resolve your cold start issues as well as having a few other great features like VGT vane sweep while at idle (don't have to wait for an opportunity to go WOT anymore)..also it creates a DTC if oil/coolant temps vary greater than 15*F indicating poor oil cooler performance an potential failure. Once you have the new flash use your programmer to verify that you have the VXCF9 strategy code. If you have this code then you know the flash took. Others, including myself had to go back for another re-pop because the dealers software IDS version wasn't up to date. Print TSB 9-24-03 and take it with you to the dealer...ask the Service Advisor to make sure the Tech gets it....the Tech will know what to do from there. Good luck.

ok thanks do you know when this flash came out because i may already have it if it came out more than a year ago when i had to replace my egr cooler and 4 grand worth of other stuff they did a full software update on it. just dont want to pay for something that i may already have i was going to go soon and get it done but if there is a chance that i alredy have it then ill just wait for my programmer to come in to check it. has anyone had personal experience of having this problem and then getting a programmer and it helped?

This TSB came out on 20 Nov 2009. It will help your issues. Gorgot to mentionearlier that it also puts less power demand on your FICM, which with the inductive heat flash VXCF7...was killing FICMs. Your Superchips tuner only enhances HP/Torque performace with a pre-programmed "canned tune" version. So in essence it doesn't really fix the cold start problem and may even make it worse. You may even consider a Superchips Custom Tuner (SCT) device that will allow for custom tunes that can be tailored for your trucks performance strategy and enhance transmission shift points. There are many tune writers on the market offering custom tunes as little as $25.

got the new flashed installed at the dealer 2 days ago and its like a completly new truck runs even better than the day i drove it off the lot. the past 2 mornings it was below 30 here and went out to the truck and it fired right up and idled perfectly. took less time to heat up no surging and didnt have problems with the tran shifting. i was also having problems with it starting to shift hard even when hot and it fixed that and also have less turbo lag now. and maybe its just me but seems i have just a tad more power on take off. it idles when cold or hot better then when it was new. so if anyone reading this is having the same problems and you havent had a flash update since nov. 09 then i would recomend taking it to the dealer and getting this done it only cost me $90. i was told by two other dealers that i needed a couple injecters another told me injectors and glow plugs. i was about to end up spending a couple thousand dollars in repairs that i didnt even need. after they did the flash i told them to check out my glow plugs, injectors and computers and they said everything is working great nothing needs to be replaced. this falsh from what they told me also helps with ficm problems, apperantly the ficm gets to much power and over time shorts it out and this corrects that and also corrects something with a turbo problems. thanks for the help and saving me a **** load of money MoyockPowerstroke
