Hey there, my wiring in my truck is insanely screwed up. When i pull my light switch all the way out it turns my headlights on but my dash lights, cd player, and tail lights turn off. If i push the switch in about a millimeter it turns my dash lights, cd player, and tail lights on. When i turn my dimmer switch down to a certain point it turns my cd player off, and when i turn on my headlights the cd player flickers on and off for a sec, it keeps memory though. And i went into my fuse box and thats all crazy too, i have circuits that require a 10 amp fuse and its got a 40 amp put in. There's about 6 different fuses that are too big for the circuits their supposed to protect. I pulled out my fuse for the headlights and my headlights stay on. I pull out the fuse for my cd player(the one in the box not in the back of the cd player) and it stays on. I pull the fuse for my instrument panel and my instrument lights, cd player, and tail lights wont come on. Any help would be appreciated, and fyi i had a few of these problems before and i replaced the switch thats behind the pull **** for the headlights and it fixed the problem of pulling to far and not having any tail lights, now the problems back with more now.
and there is no fuse for the headlights...its a self resetting circuit breaker in the switch itself...I would start by swapping all the fuses to the proper ratings to see what pops, and like plc said, check the connector on your headlight switch for melting/damaged wires...I would also bet that whoever wired the cd player used the dash light circuit instead of the switched power circuit
