oil pressure

hey guys i got a 351w that runs with normal oil pressure but when i stomp on it from a stop and then let off the oil pressure drops to nothing aand then comes back to normal. If anone knows whats wrong lemme know. Thanks

are you using the stock gauge to monitor pressure? you could have a faulty pressure sensor if so. I'd put an aftermarket gauge and then see what's going on.

Check the gauge and sending unit first. If you still have the problem after that then I would look at the oil pump pickup screen being clogged. I just bought a 96 f150 for $600. It had the same problem. It would have oil pressure at idle but when you accelerated "briskly" it would drop to nothing and the lifters would start tapping. I pulled the pan and changed the pump and pickup and problem is gone and it runs great now. Can't beat a ford.

Although the engine is broke in use a good brand of oil like "castrol" after you find your problem.
