E40D auto trans. What vehicles?
I have a 1991 ford f150 with e40d and 351 motor. I need to replace it and would like to know what Ford vehicles had this trans. I believe 88 thru 91 are the same using a speedometer cable drive not a sensor. I have been told that the vans also used this trans. Any help would be appreciated including how to identify the trans on the door plate.

E4OD was in a LOT of trucks 150, 250, 350, and up. I don't know about vans, etc.

Transmission code on the door plate is "E". Or, you can count the number of pan bolts on the transmission itself--20.

what changes need to be made to put a 93 e40d in a 91. I'm talking about the speedometer mainly.
