what can go wrong in an E4OD?

While the PCM does store engine and trans codes, the OD OFF light on the shift handle blinks for trans problems. The CHECK ENGINE light will only respond to engine faults. A few problems, like the TPS, will cause engine and trans problems. Getting the codes is a must before attempting repairs. IMHO the E4OD is a steaming pile.

Jim, I have to disagree. My line pressure circuit went out, and it set off the Check Engine light. The O/D light never flashed when this happened. When the circuit was out, it shifted really harsh. I think it depends on what the fault is to set the Check Engine light or the flashing O/D light. If you have a TPS or MAP problem causing the fault, it will indeed set the Check Engine light.
