Issue 1, my truck 2000 v-10.esof light says 4 hi/ 4low engaged, but the axels behind the hubs still spin.so i changed out the vac lines, no help...the transfer case clicks and truck feels like it's in 4x4 but like i said, the axels still spin, if i manually lock the hubs i have 4x4...i've replaced the hubs with new hubs, could the o-ring be bad in them?
issue 2 my dads 2000 v-8 farm truck, seldom use 4x4... used to have sparadic 4x4, i replaced the vac lines to wheels, thought it was fixed....serveral months later i try to get 4x4..no lights on dash, nothing when i lock the hubs i've read the posts around here...think it might be a problem with the actuator. just wanted top run it past you guys and see what ya'll think....thanks
Britt, you have to check if you have vacuum at the hubs when you turn the switch. I PM'd you a procedure for that, report back here about what you find.
Art, pm'd you with results...all others...i pulled both vaccum lines from the hubs, plugged one and hooked the vaccum guage to the other, with engine running switched to 4 hi guage moved from zero to about 1-2. switched back to 2 wd, guage didnt move.... i tried to pull a vaccum from each hub to see if they would hold a vaccum, no luck on either hub. i also noticed that the large oil seal, Ford part # F81Z=3254-CB , the outer lip was loose and flopping around on the shaft!anyone with a good procedure to replace this one????
