I wasn't going to mess with the ac since it didn't work when I got it, but I had to yank the vent system completely to reseal the firewall and clean because it was disgusting to breathe and not all the air selections worked. So now or never I suppose before I put everything back together
I hit one of the valves and it hissed at me. I was told the ac was taken out of the belt loop for a couple years and that it didn't work. Is it possible there is a leak that only shows at higher pressures, or should it all have leaked out by now? I want to try to run the system as is just for the heck of it but safety wise I had a couple specific questions before I even try it.
1. On the Evaporator cover box in my picture below, is there supposed to be a post at the bottom left just like the top left post? I have no other lead I can see down there that would connect to it if so, but it almost looks to me like something broke off here and there is epoxy over the area.
2. Below is a link to my short youtube video(sorry for camerawork). I can spin the pulley freely, and the outer piece turns with force with the bolt spinning along with it. But it has allot of play in it making me wonder if that area is normal or if its going to fly off That darn piece rattles like crazy with the engine idling, it is annoying.
Your picture is the resistor for the fan motor. It's what gives you the different speeds. There should be a plug that goes on all those terminals. If you need a new one and it's easy to replace by removing the little bolts. The new one also has the epoxy over one tab . I don't believe it's used. As far as your A/C compressor, the clutch and the bearing needs replacing but after the cost of the 2 you would be better off to replace the whole compressor and change the o-rings at the line connections and convert over to 134-a. I did my system over 2 years ago and it blows 38* at the vent.
