Leave it to the Jap high end technology to bring power steering to snowmobiles. They pioneered it on quads and anyone who has ever ridden one will want it - however its still expensive. Their 4-strokes are ahead of anyone else's in the sled industry but they are a bit heavy. The power steering feature will help on the trails where the perception of weight is worse than the weight itself. For deep snow riding, weight is weight, and thats still 2 stroke nirvana!!!
The power steering will debut on the 2011 Apex.
It depends how much you use it, age, strength, etc
On our farm the quad is a piece of equipment so a cost/benefit analysis must be done. If I were a passionate atv person I would have the option for sure. The 4 stroke sleds are way too front heavy to be enjoyable IMHO!
Yamaha sleds are very expensive but they generally command 15 percent higher resale too and last forever. I personally don't think it is worth the cost but good innovation none the less.
I don't think it worht it that's for sure ,But when you say yamaha lasts for ever beg to differ My phazer puke a crank shaft connecter rod bearing. and it wasn't a lack of oil and only 4200 km on the sled.
Ouch. I think that is more of an exception and not the norm for a Yammie. There are lots of guys I have spoken to with nearly 10,000km on their stock triple Yamaha's without problems.
Got the phazer back on the move 600 bones for a crank rebuild but I put on about 200 kms this weekend and running like a dream I wish my body felt that good, I'm the one seizing up now.. LOL..
Good to hear at least your sled is good to go, you have to fell better soon as winter is slipping away.
How the snow out your Roy? Not a lot around here, I think it`s just barely enough for sledding.
trails are all nicely groomed and the feild got a good 16 inchs or more covering here and in the wood areas you are up to your waist and the over hangs on the ridge are alot of fun to play on until you get stuck. I have only baried it to the wind sheild once this year and it took me about 40 minutes to get out that's enough for one year for me. I just sold my old polaris centurion 500 liq triple on the weekend. Now I just have to sell my old sno jet (astro SS 340 ) And my Grand fathers 93 polaris 5oo liq rev /electric start but everyone thinks they should get them for a song, my grandfathers is in mint shape and only about 100 miles on a rebuilt motor and all he used it for was trapping.
