I've got a 1999 F250 7.3 2WD. Intake, muffler delete, Edge power programmer. Auto trans with a stronger stall and some sort of shift kit. Guessing 3.73 gears.
Aftermarket utility bed on the back that probably weighs 500lbs more than the stock box. Stock sized tires @ 65psi.
My truck took 37gals to fill when I filled it last (it was very, very empty) and I've got just over 1/4 tank left at ~380 miles. Obviously I can't calculate it for sure without filling it again but I think it's well south of 20MPG that I thought I was getting.
I drive the truck very gently with the programmer in setting 1 - Mileage mode
I'd say 70% of my driving is highway at 50-60MPH, other 30% around town where again i drive it pretty gentle 99% of the time.
What can I do to improve the mileage, and what kind of mileage should I be getting?
i heard every oil change, mine had about 8 k on it and i noticed mileage was down so i changed it today. thing on the overhead console went up 2 miles. theyre kinda pricey but i wont wait again!
ive never seen 500, close but no cigar. i drive pretty hard though. i dont pay much attention but the overhead console usually shows 13-15.5 depending on what im doin. i drive about 60/40 highway/intown. change that fuel filter tomorrow, only takes 5 minutes.
Change that fuel filter ! make sure air filter is new or clean ! Make sure your oil is in good condition ! Those are the first 3 things to look at ! After that you can start looking at up-pipes ! (are they leaking???) EBPV tube ! Is it clogged with soot ??? Thats a couple ideas to start with !
i have the "29" gallon tank and i get about 380 miles per tank, maybe more on the upside of that. i change my fuel filter everytime i change my oil. i also clean or replace the air filter every time( i have 2 6637 that i rotate). change that filter!
