And a plethora of other makes dating back to the late 1930's. Coupla examples: 1937/42 Studebaker Presidents came with T-85's, as did Packards from 1941 thru 1956. Hudson/Nash used Packard V8's and T-85's in 1955/56.
Thanks Bill, I did not know that there was an application for the 240 and 300 cid 6 cylinder trucks. Probably had a different gear set in them too. Until the top loaders came along they were the strongest transmissions offered in the Ford lineup. Even modifying my trans to use Zephyr gear sets only seemed to improve the strength a little, it gave me a longer wind out in first and second but I still shucked the teeth off of second gear pretty easily.
And a plethora of other makes dating back to the late 1930's. Coupla examples: 1937/42 Studebaker Presidents came with T-85's, as did Packards from 1939 thru 1956. Hudson/Nash used Packard V8's and T-85's in 1955/56.
You won't find any 1939/48 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars with O/D, as only the Columbia 2 speed rear axle was available. 1949 was the first year for O/D, the trans is the Borg Warner T-86 O/D. Installed in 1953/64 F100's, Passenger Cars that did not come with T-85's.
Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all syncromesh transmission introduced in 1963. Will be found in myriad passenger cars thru 1980, 1963/79 F250, 1963/83 F100, 1965/67 E100 240, 1966/77 Bronco, 1969/74 E100/300, 1975/86 E & F150.
as you may know, I went and bought two 6cyl flatheads
a 1949 H and a 1947G
both seem to be out of cars.
the G has a complete drive line that almost fits the H...
I don't want to grind anything on the G drive line that could be used by someone else.
What I'm looking for is a transmission and clutch housing that will BOLT on to this plate.
I would like it to be a smooth shifting operation,
and I don't care how "correct" it is, I wanna drive the thing!
I was hoping to have a 3.03 tranny or anything that is a slick shifter.
I DO NOT HAVE a vehicle in mind, a car would be fine (a hot rod would be fine too)
