local upholstery work

I've just started restoring my Great Grandpa's 72 F100, 94,xxx original miles. He was the original owner. The bench seat could use new foam and cover. The original was a maroon vinyl that has cracked and faded over the years. I live in the St. Charles, Mo. area. Any recommendations on upholstery shop that does good work at a fair price. Also, looking for a windshield replacement, it has the metal chrome trim that I hear can be difficult to reinstall. Any recommendations are certainly appreciated.

Well, the good news is that I know a GREAT re upholstery shop...the bad news is that it's in Raytown, MO. (which is approximately two inches from KC.)

As for the glass, most any windshield repair/replacement outfit should be able to help.

As for the trim...good luck! Junk yards...

...or possibly Rich's house...

Hopefully, someone closer to you will chime in!

Hey I saw an ad on the Springfield Craigslist for a new dash pad for the 72. I can't remember what they wanted for it, so I guess you'll have to look if you're interested.
as for the reupulstry, check Yahoo yellow pages, they sometimes of reviews for what ever shops are listed.

Thanks for the responses. Tcbofade, what's the name of the shop in Raytown? My wife and I travel to KC to watch Cardinals-Royals game usually in June. I could bring the seat out then and road trip back to pick it up. I bought my donor truck out of Harrisonville, a bit SE from Raytown & KC. I went to college at Kansas State, so trip from St. Charles to KC is no big deal, compared to Manhattan, Kansas. I still hope to find one hear in the STL area.

No need to go out of your way, but if in the area, I'd appreciate it. Also,
I pulled the id tag off the rear axle of my Grandpas truck, 1972. Trying to decode. Top line says WDM-AG 1GB. Second line says 3 00 9 343A.
VIN tag on door shows axle as 02. Which translates to 4.00 gear ratio.
My 72 donor truck has no axle tag, but the VIN shows axle as 08, which translates to 3.50 gear ratio. The axle id is important because I'm pulling the 360/C6 out of my grandpas truck and putting the 302/C4 out of the 72 donor truck. I'm thinking I will need to swap the rear ends. Do you know a web site that I can go to, to decode the axle tag?
Thanks.

I think that there is a decoder in the 73-79 tips and tricks forum...

EDIT: I was right, there is!
