I am going to install a CD changer in the center console like the factory one. Does anyone know how to remove the center console. I need to run the cable through the console up to the radio. Are there any secret screws or clips I need to know about.
This is my first post on this forum. Thanks in advance.
It's takes some time and there are alot of different bolts and screws to remove. Im at work, so i cant go into too much detail now, but if you look back into some of the old posts a few months ago, i think i posted a full description how to take it apart. I had to install neons on my sub boxes, and had to take the center console apart to run a switch just behind the cupholders. One thing i can tell you is your going to need a Phillips Head, A Flat Head, A Torx, and a Hex Wrench, or Socket. Ill try to clarify once i get home.
I put a six disc changer in my 98 a couple years ago. It's pretty easy since there are already places for the wires to run. Let me try to remember.. There is a screw in the bottom of the "junk bin" towards the dash, one at the latch on the console door, and a couple in the bottom of the console (mine has a little rubber mat that I had to pull out. Also, take off the console door with the two screws at the hinge on it. As far as I can remember, it pretty much pulled out after that.. Hope this helps..
Thanks for the info.
I installed the 6 disc changer yesterday. It was pretty easy. It only took a couple of hours to do the installation. I think there were about 12 screws and 4 bolts all together.
By the way I have the stock premium radio with changer controls. I bought a kenwood changer and the adapter cable. Once the changer is mounted, just plug in the cables. It was very easy.
