OKM GUYS< HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY 96 f150---had what was thought was blown head gasket... changed it out...got a bad miss on no-5...after going through plugs, wires, rotor, cap....dont have no loss of coolant..no wet plugs.no water in oil...no smoke...nothing indicating problem in head...could I have a crack and didn't see it...without loss of fluid or any visible indication?....didnt get the head magnafluxed or checked because found horrible place in gasket during disassembly, felt confident in this being the problem...also working with "depression resources". Could it be-- I got gunk in an injector during reassembly?
since you have a 96 with a miss i would pull codes before you go thru anything else. that system will pick it up if there is a problem. what brand/type of plugs are you using. also are the plug wires routed nice and not touching or crossing each other? this can sometimes cause a misfire.
Start swapping parts with another cylinder, plug, wire and if it has good compression and nothing happens, then it's probably fuel.Could be a bad connection or plugged injector.
OK THANKS GUYS-- I HAVENT GOT A CHANCE TO GET BACK TO IT (BEEN A LITTLE SICK, THE PAST COUPLE DAYS) HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO GET BACK TO IT THIS EVENING..I APPPRECIATE THE HELP..I DID GET A COMPRESSION TESTER AND WILL BUILD A LEAK-DOWN TESTER...I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING ABOUT THE CODES...A FRIEND OF MINE IS SUPPOSE TO BRING OVER AN OBDII CODE SCANNER THIS AFTERNOON-- I WILL POST THE RESULTS AS SOON AS I FIND OUT SOMETHING..THANKS AGAIN.
